Congratulations to Roscommon G.C. who emerged as victors following play over two days at Co. Longford Golf Club. Four teams qualified for the semi-finals played in adverse weather conditions on Saturday morning, with Roscommon G. C. and Galway G. C. overcoming their respective opponents - Co. Longford G. C. and Claremorris G.C. to emerge as finalists. After a closely contested match in the afternoon, Roscommon G.C. claimed the Senior Cup trophy for the Western District and now go forward to play in the national finals to be held in September in Galway. We wish them well.
Congratulations to all concerned in Co. Longford G.C. who assisted in presenting the venue at its best for this notable golfing event. Well done to our local ladies team of Olivia Conroy, Martina Glennon, Ann Hayes, Pat Davies & Ann Therese Grant with Mary Keegan & Kathleen O' Connon as reserves, who represented their club and almost secured a slot in the final: Well done.
